What's Your Best Book?

I know many of us have stacks of books (or a list of books) that we've been reading through this summer. I've been reading quite a bit myself. I'm wondering...what is the best book you've read so far this summer? It can be fiction or non-fiction. Come on...share the joy.

All Furry Things Aren't Cute

I cleaned out my fridge this morning, with the help of my able assistant, Abigail.  She is a master cleaner and I am thankful for her.  I thought I was going to lose her at one point though.  I pulled out a ziploc bag of...something furry.  She grabbed her nose and ran screaming from the room.  Yea...it was pretty bad, hence the title of this post.  So, here are few things that aren't so "cute" when they're furry.

1.  green beans
2.  pasta casserole
3.  red bell peppers
4.  zucchini
5.  something that we couldn't identify

Apparently some people have a problem with me writing a post about this, but HE shall remain nameless because I would hate for him to admit that he married someone who is not a superwoman and yes, I do find furry things in my fridge from time to time.  So, I would appreciate a little help here.  I know I'm not Martha Stewart, but surely there are others who have found unsavory things in their fridge at one time or other.  I'll be waiting on your comments.  Anyone?  Anyone?

Are My Eyes Deceiving Me?

I was in Hobby Lobby yesterday to pick up some t-shirts and fabric paint.  The store employees were putting out Christmas ribbon.  Yes.  As my nanny might say, "What is this world coming to?"  Must we have Christmas trappings out in June? That's just disturbing.

How Much Sleepover is Too Much Sleepover?

My girls usually enjoy one special aspect of summer:  sleepovers.  During the school year they are not allowed to spend the night away from home because of the disastrous results that come with sleepovers:  extremely bad moods, two day recovery time, irritation with family members and general lack of decent personality.  With summer, however, there is no such law.  Find as many friends as you can who will allow you to come to their house as many nights as possible!  And, we allow them to have friends at our house, as well. (Just in case you thought we were only trying to get rid of our kids.)

And so it begins...

Friday, June 6:  Rebecca sleeps over at Emily's house.  Comes home late on Sat., so there is not much time to have any difficulties with family members.

Monday, June 9:  Rebecca sleeps over at Amanda's house.  Arrives home on Tues. tired and mildly cranky, but must put on a good face to do the taste test at church and discipleship that night with Miss Barb.

Tuesday, June 10:  Katherine sleeps over at Abi's for a Sunday School party.  Arrives home on Wed. having had about 5 hours of sleep.  Heads for bed, but is thwarted by dad who insists she must paint the shed.  Not happy.

Wednesday, June 11:  Abigail sleeps over at Brittany's and Katherine sleeps over at Jessica's.  The favored remaining child is allowed to stay up extremely late because her parents are watching a movie and forget that she is in her room -- awake until at least midnight!

Thursday, June 12:  Oh, what poor misguided fools!  Did we not realize that 3 days of sleepover thrills were not going to equal one Thursday of family love?  Ah, no we did not.  Jeff took the smart route and spent most of the day in Dallas, as did Katherine, leaving me home with the two most delightful post-sleepover children you have ever seen.  I don't think they said one kind word to each other all day.  Yes, it was truly that special.

Friday, June 13:  Abigail's friend, Emma, comes to our house to spend the night.  FRIDAY, THE 13TH!  Anybody want the other two???

Ahhh...IKEA

I don't know why I like IKEA so much, except that IT'S FABULOUS!  There are just so many interesting things to see and do there.

We went to Round Rock with the purpose of watching our old alma mater, Buna High School, play in the state baseball playoffs.  And, what store just happens to be in Round Rock?  After all, we had promised Katherine a new bed for her birthday.  She was definitely due to get her present, here a month after her birthday.  She did find a bed and nightstand that she liked and we put it together tonight when we got home.  Pics later when her room is all nice and clean.

While Katherine was searching for a bed, I managed to completely redo my kitchen, select new living room furniture, and pretty much redecorate everyone's bedroom.  Yeah.  Now for a windfall of money from the sky...

I bought a few kitchen gadgets, some delicious-smelling vanilla candles, and some paper napkins.  Jeff makes fun of me, but I love their napkins.  Everyone knows that your food tastes better when you have a pretty napkin beside your plate.  It's true!

Everyone picks out their favorite office space.

And, their favorite bed...

I think Katherine has reached her limit on getting into the doodle bug chairs.  When I was taking the first picture, she was saying, "Hurry, I'm in pain!!!"

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.  We certainly are.  More pics to come with Katherine's new bed and Rebecca's room, which is almost finished.
