Salt and Light in San Diego

San Diego, California -- What I know about this city could fill a thimble; however, I do know this one thing. On Saturday afternoon, July 11 this city is going to be invaded by a group of about 90 teenagers from Fort Worth, Texas who are excited about being salt and light in the world.

I put Katherine and Rebecca on a bus today headed to San Diego, via Odessa, Texas and Tucson, Arizona. On Saturday, I fly out to California to join them. We have a full week scheduled: indoor and outdoor concerts, soccer camps, basketball camps, cheerleading camps, recreation camps and work activities. We could definitely use prayer coverage from today through July 18 when we return home. Specifically:

1. Our witness would lead to many accepting Christ.
2. We would help churches reach out to their lost communities through our activities.
3. Pray for all technical aspects of the production: sound, lighting, equipment
4. I have an injured pinkie finger that is really hurting. (I am the keyboard player and every now and then I need that finger.)
5. Protection from sickness and distraction of our purpose.

Also, Abigail is travelling to Kerrville with the LIT's on Saturday. Pray they would be a light to the children there as they serve in apartment ministries with backyard Bible clubs.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.

You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." Matthew 5:13-16

Definitely praying for both mission trips, and especially your pinkie finger, this week. BTW, which camp are you leading - cheerleading? I think you have plenty of experience for it, especially after Promise U! :) Can't wait to hear all the stories about how God works through you all in San Diego.

Ok...don't laugh, but Jay put me with soccer camp. I know. It's laughable, but I think I'm probably crowd control and bathroom break leader.
