I'm Just Peachy

I'm so excited I was able to harvest peaches off my tree this year! (I think the blowup snake did the trick to keep the squirrels away. He is definitely staying for next year!) Have I mentioned how much I despise squirrels? But, just in case you haven't read this blog that far back, I. HATE. SQUIRRELS. THEY. ARE. EVIL. Anyhoo...some lovely photos of my delicious peaches, which made the most delicious cobbler ever this week. (See last photo.)

Apologies for the weird coloring on the last photo. A food stylist I am not. But, barring all the fat and calories which will land completely and firmly on my stomach, it was delish!

Mission Trip Outtakes

Sometimes you get these pictures because no one was ready the first take. Sometimes you just miss the shot. And sometimes you ask, "Who gave Abigail my camera?" I'll let you guess which categories these interesting photos fall into.

Mission Trip - Farmington, New Mexico

On Friday, June 25, Rebecca, Abigail and I jumped onto vans and buses with approximately 120 other teenagers and adults and headed to New Mexico. Our destination was Farmington, which we landed in on Saturday evening after a stop and first concert in Amarillo, three malls to eat, and the Motel 6 in Tucumcari, which is very interesting, by the way.

We spent the week housed at the TraveLodge in Farmington and Crestview Church was our central station for meetings and eating. It's a long drive to New Mexico and the views are pretty much rocks, and rock formations, and a few tumbleweeds. I didn't really care for the dust storms and cottonweed blowing around, but LOVED the low/no humidity and great hair days. (if I had felt like fixing my hair on four hours sleep per night)

This was the view from the Shiprock Pentecostal Church parking lot,
located on a Navajo reservation.

I hope there's a better band picture than this,
but this is me and the guys. Love them all
and they are so talented.

The view from the Crestview Church -- amazing!

Our concert was about an hour or so long, with many different varieties of performances:

We STOMPED...
(Abigail is in the center, 2nd row with camo shirt)

...and BANGED on trashcans...

...and performed awesome DRAMAS...

...and led basketball CAMPS...

...and SANG lots of great music...
This is a Youth Camp in Hesperus, Colorado.

Me caught digging in my purse, probably
looking for eye drops or Altoids!

We POSED for pics...

...and threw CHAIRS...

And Melissa was there, so that was really great!
Don't we look "peachy" in the light of the fading sun?

And the following Friday, we loaded up at 6 a.m. and drove and drove and drove....stopping for bathroom breaks A LOT, and finally landed in Fort Worth on Friday night around 10:30. It was soooo good to be home, except for the 1,000% humidity which immediately sent us all into groans of "Let's go back to New Mexico! Wait....not really. Home to bed!"

My favorite picture that I took...the glory of God revealed in nature.

Our Home Concert will be this Sunday, July 11 at 6:00 p.m. Ya'll come!
